Mark Hands

Meet Mark, our group general manager at Doubletree by Hilton Cadbury House. Mark has worked in hospitality for 20 years, starting his career as a Waiter at The Angel & Royal Hotel, Grantham. Prior to his move to Cadbury House in 2007, Mark worked as Hotel Manager at The Thistle Hotel in Bristol.

An interview with Mark...

Q. What’s the best thing about working at Cadbury House Hotel?
A. The Diversity in the job as one moment I am working on agreeing new suppliers with my Procurement manager whilst the next moment I might be discussing how one of our Chickens needs to be taken to the vets.

Q. How do you like spending your time when you’re away from the hotel?
A. My time away from the business, obviously as this is a company website, I like to spend it thinking about the hotel and how to generate more sales whilst improving standards, but when not doing that i love the simple life that being a father brings about, I also love socialising and playing Squash.

Q. What makes Cadbury House different?
A. Cadbury House sets itself apart from all the competition in the fact that we strive for perfection in everything we do and being a privately owned operation we can change direction at the drop of a hat and without endless board meetings, therefore guaranteeing customer satisfaction.

Q. If you could choose any company car, what would it be?
A. Bugatti Veyron

Q. If you had to go back in time and change one thing, if you HAD to, even if you had “no regrets” what would it be?
A.I think at this present stage the answer would probably be the Budget that I submitted to the board, I would have made it easier

Q. What is it that annoys you the most in life?
A.I am not sure as there are lots of little annoying things, but I think top of my list would have to be, people who take life too seriously or people that have never learnt to talk to each other with respect.

Q. What is the last thing you bought?
A.The last thing I bought was a play station of my own as I am sick of always losing when I play my children, so I thought a sneaky practice session might stand me with a chance

Q. What's your favourite aftershave?
A.Dolce & Gabanna
