Children from Shipham pre-school in Winscombe presented two scarecrows to DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House for its new vegetable patch.

The children presented their scarecrows to the team at the hotel during a special visit to the venue after learning about gardening, growing fresh produce and the role of a chef.

The visit was arranged as part of the Hilton CARE committee’s commitment to the local community and the children met with the kitchen and management teams.

DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House business development manager Rebecca Bozeat-Manzi said: “We thoroughly enjoyed having the children and teachers from Shipham pre-school come to visit us and we’d like to say a huge thank you for our wonderful scarecrows which stand proud on our new vegetable patches.

“It’s great that the children are learning about fresh produce and how to grow vegetables and they enjoyed learning more about Marco Pierre White! We were able to add a practical element to their classroom learning, which was fantastic. We presented them with a special cake made by our head chef Alex, which I think went down well!

“We have recently invested £100,000 into our grounds, introducing vegetable and herb patches, renovating the pond and installing guinea fowl, tumbling doves and indian runner ducks on-site, all part of Marco’s vision for a rural setting, people can enjoy.”

DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House is an award-winning four-star boutique hotel in Congresbury, North Somerset. With an on-site health club, spa and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill, the venue has become renowned as the region’s premier hotel.
