CADBURY ENJOYS FINE 2009

Published: 30th October 2009

30 October 2009: The South West’s premier hotel, health club and spa has defied the economic downturn in what has been another successful year. As 2009 slowly draws to an end, many in the business community will be glad to see the back of their own ‘annus horribilis’. But for Mark Hands, group general manager at Cadbury House Hotel Health Club and Spa in Congresbury, North Somerset, the contrast in the venue’s fortunes couldn’t be greater when compared to many involved in the hotel and leisure sector. Average occupancy in the hotel has consistently been over 80%, conference bookings are up year-on-year and the venue will have catered for approximately 120 weddings by the time 2009 comes to an end, placing it as the number one venue for weddings in the region. December will see 10,000 people entertained in the run up and during the festivities and the health club and spa now has a membership of over 4,000.

With work to extend the hotel set to begin in the New Year, Mark and his team are already planning for a busy 2010.

For those who haven’t been to Cadbury House in recent years, it’s little wonder its proved so popular especially as guests come up the tree lined drive and see for themselves the transformation.

The four-star boutique style hotel has a certain glitz and glamour no other hotel can offer and with parking for up to 350 people, it’s easy to understand why businesses find Cadbury House so attractive for delegates.

Commenting on the venue’s successful year Mark said: “There’s no denying that 2009 has been a tough year, not just for the hotel and leisure sector but for business in general. However, we’ve managed to maintain a high level of occupancy in the hotel as well as attract businesses to make use of the first rate conference and meetings facilities. “Part of our success can be attributed to maintaining consistent occupancy levels throughout the week. This means more business people during the weekdays with weddings, events and private functions taking over on the weekends.

“We’re constantly upgrading the health club and spa with the latest equipment and technological advances available. This keeps the health club fresh and exciting and helps maintain the motivation of members.

“The management team here is constantly looking for ways to improve the level of service and is why we’re always evolving. It’s this attention to detail that makes Cadbury House such a unique place to visit and why we’re all looking forward to 2010 with relish.”
