NORTH SOMERSET HEALTH CLUB FIRST IN UK TO INSTALL INTERACTIVE FITNESS BIKES

Published: 2nd November 2009

2 November 2009: The South West’s leading health and fitness club has become the first in the UK to install interactive fitness bikes.

It means members of theclub at Cadbury House Hotel Health Club & Spa in Congresbury, North Somerset will be able to enjoy their work-out while at the same time race against other club members or those from other health clubs around the country (once they’ve been installed)!

Called Expresso, the bikes include virtual screens which shows the rider where they are in relation to users on other bikes. It means they can race against each other making the workout more fun or competitive.

With 30 courses users at theclub will have plenty of choice when it comes to selecting which one to race on and with four bikes means four friends or members can concurrently, pit their fitness levels against each other.

Jason Eaton, manager at theclub said: “These new bikes really are the next generation in terms of health club fitness. They are also really good fun and once members get underway they’ll soon forget they’re exercising.

“It’s one of the first indoor exercise bikes to incorporate modern gaming software into its monitors.

“From the view of the handlebars, the bike travels through deserts, race tracks mountain paths and even space. And just like a real bike, the handlebars also move making it even more realistic. When the course hits a hill the pedal resistance gets harder and easier the second you start going down.

“They are very motivational and users will not only have a great time using them but will get a lot fitter.”
