Dragon Finds Comfort at Region’s Premier Hotel Published: 8th May 2009 A member from the panel of arguably TV’s toughest business show, Dragon’s Den, popped in to stay at the region’s premier hotel last week as he visited the area on business. Theo Paphitis, who heads stationers Ryman and Partners, and lingerie chains Contessa and La Senza as well as the Red Letter Days gift business with fellow Dragon Peter Jones, stayed over at Cadbury House Hotel Health Club & Spa in Congresbury during a trip to the region. Now one of the country’s most recognisable business people, Mr Paphitis has become something of an icon for many aspiring entrepreneurs looking for the next big idea in the tough world of business and commerce. Mark Hands, group general manager at Cadbury House said: “It was great that such a high-profile business man like Mr Paphitis chose to stay at Cadbury House. He was a real gentleman and I’m delighted to say he thoroughly enjoyed his stay at the region’s premier, four-star hotel. “While we were chatting he commented that Cadbury House was by far the best hotel he has stayed in across the region and wished us all the best with the extension, particularly as North Somerset needs more hotels of this standard if it is to compete in the market place.” Since its re-opening in 2007, occupancy levels at the four-star hotel have been running at around 80% with many famous personalities notably Sven-Goran Eriksson and Manchester City football club, Andy Williams from X-Factor and Nick Knowles from DIY SOS and the National Lottery having stayed. Costing £5 million, the extension which is to be built at the rear of the existing hotel, will result in a further 50 jobs being created. It will increase the number of rooms by 44, taking it up to a capacity of 116.
