One of the country’s top female gymnasts will be aspiring to greater things throughout 2016 thanks to the help from the South West’s leading health club.

A protégé of The Academy Gymnastics club in Portishead, Ruby Harrold (19), has now received the backing from theclub at Cadbury House in Congresbury where she will be able to maintain her stringent training regime helping keep her in top shape for the coming year.

Ruby is known for her complex bar work and strong vaulting and represented Great Britain at the 2012 senior Europeans where she helped the team to 4th place and made the bars final.

At the 2013 European Championships she made the all-round, bars and beam final and she followed this up later in the year by making the bars and all around finals at the World Championships.

The sponsorship will help Ruby in her recovery and provide her with the additional strength and conditioning work needed to help her secure a place in the 2016 GB team.

Jason Eaton, director at the popular health club said: “Living in Langford, we’re just down the road for Ruby, so ideally placed for her to keep on top of her training schedule.

“Hopefully the facilities here will give Ruby that extra edge when competing and in Olympic year, let’s hope Ruby makes the team that will represent Great Britain in Rio.”

Ruby added: “It’s great to be able to use state-of-the-art facilities that are so close to home and I’ve no doubt will help me towards potential medals throughout the year.

“To have a gym like this right on my doorstep is hugely beneficial and I’d like to thanks Jason and his team for their support.

“The sauna, steam room and hot tub at theclub are also great facilities to have access to which will help me during recovery periods and will definitely help towards achieving my goals this year.”

Jason added: “Ruby is truly inspirational and we’re delighted to help her out. Let’s hope she’ll be able to show off an Olympic medal later in the year!”
