A scrummy dinner at Cadbury House

While the British and Irish Lions prepare to face the All Blacks in New Zealand, diners in North Somerset can chew over their chances with a former international player.

Geoff Parling is special guest at a three-course Sporting Dinner at DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House, Congresbury, on Friday 23rd June.

After the meal, he will host a Q&A session to discuss the first test, which takes place at Eden Park, Auckland, the following day.

Geoff, who currently plays for Exeter Chiefs, has 29 England caps and played for the British and Irish Lions three times.

He started his club career at Newcastle Falcons, winning the players’ player of the year award in 2005-6, and he captained the side several times the following season.

He signed for Leicester Tigers for the 2009/10 campaign, and played a pivotal part in the Premiership final win against Saracens that season.

While  at Leicester he caught the eye of the then-England coach Martin Johnson, and having already represented England at under 16, under 18, under 19 and under 21 level, was called up to the senior squad in January 2012 as an injury replacement for Louis Deacon.

He was part of the team which beat New Zealand in the autumn internationals that year, and in April 2013 he was selected for that year’s British and Irish Lions tour to Australia.

Cadbury House general manager, Mehmet Kandemir, said: “Rugby matches don’t get much bigger than England against New Zealand, and what better build up could there be than to enjoy an excellent meal in the company of a player who has been there and beaten the All Blacks.

“This will be the perfect opportunity for all those armchair rugby pundits to get some expert insight, and at just £39 per person, it’s tremendous value, so if you’ve never been to an event like this before, this is the perfect chance to give it a try.”

Those who book a table of 10 will receive a complimentary bottle of Prosecco.
