This August we have a superb selection of events in the local area, perfect for all ages. With so much to do why not indulge and book an overnight stay in our award winning boutique hotel, perfect for the whole family at DoubleTree By Hilton Bristol South, Cadbury House.


Valley Fest

Venue: The Farm, Denny Lane, Chew Magna, Bristol

Dates: 2nd – 4th August

Valley Fest not only is set in a tranquil and picturesque location, but it also has a superb line up this year of star studded and new rising artists.

This year’s line-up includes rock and roll legends Razorlight, DJ set by Basement Jaxx, Tom Odell, The Magic Numbers, Stealing Sheep,  Nubiyan Twist, Henge, Dutty Moonshine Big Band, The Magic Numbers, Honeyfeet’s, Ríoghnach Connolly, Chainska Brassika. Fitty Gomash’s Celidh, Sheelanagig, The Elephant Sessions and Peaking in Tongues.

Norman Jay MBE will be playing some awesome sounds and there will also be a DJ set from Leftfield which will include some house and techno tunes.

We love to support upcoming artists, this year we have, Balcony stand on the borders of two cultures. Icarus are also making some great hits and Hejira who have played along Amy Winehouse, Floating Points and Nitin Sawhney.

Culinary cuisine is also an important part of Valley Fest and we’re big supporters of all things local and organic. Josh Eggleton who is a Michelin Str Chef who owns the Pony and Trap in Chew Magna with be cooking up a feast with Rob Howell from Root. There will also be a large selection of food and drink stalls to keep you fed and watered.

Relax in our well-being area and book in for a hand massage or skin food facial by organic skincare company Weleda.

150th Anniversary Weekend at the Avon Valley Railway

Dates: 3rd – 4th August

Venue: Avon Valley Railway, Bristol

Come and celebrate the 150th anniversary of the line being open, will steam train rides, historic displays and vintage vehicles it’s the perfect day out for the whole family.

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

Date: 8th – 11th August

Venue: Ashton Court Estate, Bristol

The annual Bristol Balloon Fiesta is Europe’s largest gathering of hot air balloons from famous night glows and with balloons taking off throughout the day it’s a spectacular not to be missed.

The event is held over three days and there is plenty activities, events and stalls for all ages with easy parking on site it’s the perfect event this summer.

The Bee Gees Anniversary Show

Date: 9th August

Venue: Weston Playhouse Theatre, Weston Super Mare

One of the most celebrated UK tribute acts, Bee Gees Fever, are celebrating their 20th Anniversary. They have been together and performing to live audiences all over the UK and Europe for the last 20 years, honing their skills as a tribute act for one purpose - to entertain you!  

Let Bee Gees Fever take you back to 1998 for the ultimate 'One Night Only' experience, celebrating the music. They now have a guest female vocalist to enhance your trip back in time to the 70's when the Bee Gees were officially the worlds biggest band.

The Navy Wings Weekend offers an exploration of everything Navy, with flight simulators, military vehicles, charity displays, special visits by new helicopters and a climbing wall.. you’ll be entertained for hours!

Weston Classic Car Shows return for 2019!

If classic cars are your thing then Weston Classic Cars Show is for you, whether you’re an enthusiast or would like to show off your own pride and joy at the show you’ll be sure to love this hugely popular event. This year you’ll be able to see pre-war cards to 90’s classics. The monthly classic cars show proved hugely popular last year with everything from pre-war motorcars to 90s classics lined up around the Band Stand in leafy Grove Park.

The Downs Festival

Date: 31st August

Venue: The Downs, Bristol

The Downs festival is back, and this year is going to be huge!

This year’s line-up features super star Ms.Lauryn Hill as well as Grace Jones and Bristol’s hugely popular IDLES.

Founder of the huge hip hop group the Fugees, songwriter, rapper and multi Grammy Award Winner. Ms. Lauryn Hill will be the headlining act on the Saturday evening. Her last album saw it win five Grammy Awards as is one of the most popular albums ever.

Grace Jones, the star-studded singer has hit the charts for the past four decades continues to be as popular as ever, not only does she sing but also produces, models and acts.

Local band the IDLES are going from strength to strength this year, after being nominated as Best Breakthrough Act at the Brit Award this year and having released two albums over the past few years they continue to climb the ladder of success in the music industry.

Neneh Cherry will also be taking to the stage the legendary Swedish singer who is a Brit, Grammy and MTV Europe Music Awards winner will be sure to give an awesome performance with her range of vocals.

For those of you who love a bit of drum and bass Crazy P, Nightmares on Wax High Contrast, with the accompaniment of a live band will be performing on the Avon Stage.
